I didn't have a chance to work on any projects this weekend, as I volunteered to assist at 2006 Rhythm and Roots Festival here in Bristol. The weather was great and a good time was had by all. Bristol is the real home of country music and this festival helps celebrate that heritage. The festival started in 2001 and has been increasing in size and participation every year. State Street is blocked off for the weekend event that starts on Friday nights and runs through Sunday. The streets are filled with the sounds of bluegrass and country music, the smell of food cooking at the street vendor stands and restaurants, and thousands of people taking it all in. The photos above are some that I captured this weekend while I assisted with bands setting up and breaking down on various stages around town. If you are in the area of Bristol Tennessee and Virginia, you should seriously consider coming by and enjoy the experience.
